If you’re waiting for the real spring to show up to do all of your spring cleaning, I’m not sure it’s making an obvious grand entrance. It’s more of tip-toeing in and out the door, letting Winter back in now and then, and just quietly creeping in unnoticed. She’s being a real drag. I had to put on my parka to take the garbage out last week. What is happening, Earth? This is weird stuff. You’re confusing us.
But it really is time. Time to pull out all the warm weather “toys” from storage, pull the covers off the BBQ and patio set, and prep the car to shed it’s winter weight and get ready for a summer full of adventure! No more hibernation – the sun is out, sweater weather (or better) is here and hopefully, to stay.
Of course pulling all this stuff out of the way is gonna kick up a lot of dust and some thoughts of: “oh… that hasn’t been cleaned in a while.” And for the nooks and crannies that your upright vacuum can’t get into, there’s this: the Dirt Devil 360 Reach!
I was generously provided with the 360 Reach to help with my spring cleaning. When I opened the box, everything was neatly packaged into this duffel bag.
Right off the bat, this is not a general, all purpose vacuum for the house. You are not going to be able to vacuum 2000 square feet of carpet easily (or comfortably). But for everything else, the 360 Reach could be your new dust busting BFF. Here are the included attachments:
This machine is meant for vacuuming and dusting corners, crevices, surfaces up high, and basically anywhere your regular vacuum cannot reach. And I mean this because they’ve come up with a genius solution with their pivoting coupler:
Combine this with the telescoping wand and if you’re short like me (5’2″ for the win), there should be no reason that cleaning up high should be a fall hazard. This is especially helpful for tall bookcases, buffet hutches, cupboards, crown moulding, chandeliers, light fixtures, and anything else that might get neglected because it’s simply too high. This is by far my favourite feature – it’s almost too easy to get to everything now. I say *almost* because it does feel a little bit awkward when there’s so much distance between you and the end of the vacuum. The centre of gravity gets funky so you have to play around with your hand placement to get a stable grip on the vacuum.
If you have hardwood floors – especially dark ones – dust gets awkwardly visible really quickly. Instead of sweeping and releasing all of that dust into the air, or vacuuming and possibly scratching your floor – the Swipes microfibre pad clears up all the tiny dust as well as regular debris. There is no need to buy refills since all the microfibre tools can go straight into the washing machine. But if you’re dealing with the icky-icky, disposable pads are available as well and slide right onto the floor attachment.
I think the attachment that gets the most use around our house is the stair/upholstery tool. With a regular upright vacuum, it’s really hard (and annoying) to try to use that to vacuum the stairs, or to use the hose attachment and just end up with an awkward patchy job. The 360 Reach’s stair tool turns it into a mini vacuum that’s just right for stairs, as well as a pivoting guard that lets you vacuum the rise of the step as well! The only thing that bugs me about this is that I can’t quite get into the corners of the steps because of the way the guard sits, so I have go at her with a different strategy. But on the plus side, I’ve used this attachment numerous times on our couch and it picks up aaaallllll the crumbs. (Yeah, I let the kid eat snacks on the couch. We’re chill like that.)
Last but definitely not least, this vacuum is great for cleaning inside…. the vehicles! (Our minivan is always a disaster. I’m finding crumbs from food that I gave Sweet Pea weeks ago. Honestly I’m just grateful she’s finally eating!) It’s portable enough to maneuver the interior, and has a 27′ cord that shouldn’t have you tugging at the outlet. Gone are the days of my husband taking out our full upright vacuum and hosing it up in the middle of the driveway 😀 The upholstery tool and crevice attachment can make your car look show ready in between those yearly (*yeah right*) detailing appointments.
If you have a lot of high, hard to reach surfaces that miss out on cleaning day, or if you’re a hardwood household with dusty planks, the 360 Reach might just be what you’re looking for. I hope this review helps you in your decision, thanks for reading!
The Dirt Devil 360 Reach is available at Canadian Tire here and retails for $199.99 CAD.
