Baby, it’s cold outside. I’ve officially been wearing pants for 2 weeks straight (would have been longer except a trip to Mexico was a very welcome interruption. Woohoo!).
And I know that in the past, as soon as shorts are out of the picture, my legs join Movember until the last snowbank of winter thaws. It’s like built-in leg warmers, amirite?
Except, now, I’m a mom. and SCREW THAT.
I used to think that it was liberating to choose not shave my legs. Except it’s actually not, because in the infrequent but very probable chance that I’m in a situation where I have to quickly end up in a swimsuit, skirt, or dress; guess what? I’m back to square one, and I have to now rush to shave my legs. I’m not so free anymore am I? Trapped in a shower with my razor and 10 minutes before we have to leave… psh.
Now that my being in motherhood has greatly impacted the amount of time that I can spend on myself, I have to be strategic in when I can primp and pamper. My showers are literally the only time I get to be alone. (No, you don’t get to poop by yourself when you have kids.) I’m convinced the only reason I get showers to myself is because Sweet Pea is afraid of the water coming from up above. So am I going to maximize the effectiveness of my time in there? Hell yes – I’m gonna shave my legs!
Not because of social convention, not because of cultural norms. (Trust me, I’ve ventured out in shorts on day 5. NBD.)
But because I like the way I feel when I shave them!
You know that feeling you get right after shaving your legs after rocking the stubblies for a week (or two)? The feeling where you’re like “Ooooh, that’s smooth,” and then instantly feel like you’ve lost 5 pounds?
Yah – I love that feeling. I feel sexy, I feel tall, I feel confident and light.
Forget all the libber judgment about conforming to society.
If YOU want to shave your legs – girl, shave your legs!
With the holiday season coming up, you might find yourself on short notice for spontaneous parties and dips in the hot tub. To keep your legs silky smooth, here are a few of my go-tos!
I’m loving the Schick Intuition Advanced Moisture as an all-in-one razor complete with a built-in moisturizer so I don’t have to lather on cream before-hand! It saves me so much time and my favourite part about it is that I get such a close shave at every pass.
If you prefer to “drive” a razor that’s a little more compact, the Schick Hydro Silk disposables are fantastic and easy to manoeuvre. They’re loaded with Water-Activated Moisturizing Serum that hydrates for up to 2 hours after shaving.
You might want to pair this up with Skintimate Skin Therapy Shave Gel, a lotionized shave gel infused with Moroccan Oil, Vitamin E, Olive Butter and Sunflower Seed Oil for a silky smooth shave.
Lastly, if you’re looking for an all-in-one device, the Schick Hydro Silk Trimstyle is actually a 5 blade razor on one end, and a battery powered bikini trimmer on the other. This is great for travelling and a fantastic stocking stuffer!
Once you’re ready to tackle any holiday event that comes your way, Schick invites you to get holiday ready with these fun Facebook frames for your profile picture! There are 4 to choose from – I’m particularly fond of the “coconut sunglasses” my husband gets from the Getaway Ready frame 😉
Visit Schick.ca for more information or head over to your local Shoppers Drug Mart to get party, getaway, holiday and mistletoe ready!
